Biography

Past

Cass Tort was born in the satellite nation of Elysion and rose to high social status as one of Elysions priestesses. She met Kanart Io, a promising nobleman from the same nation during a religious function, and came to love him and they eventually got engaged, as their relationship was socially accepted without any issue.

But Cass got herself cajoled in an affair with a Demon Spy, who was proficient in love affairs and approached her with a mission. The fact that she had never been in contact with any other men outside of her betrothed and her new partner was from a race denied by her religion. The situation fueled her desire and passion. She came to adore and love the Demon, even though it was an immoral act and unfaithfulness towards her fiancé.

Eventually, her love affair with the Demon Spy was discovered by her families. Her engagement with Kanart was broken off, while the Demon Spy was apprehended and executed before her eyes, though not before the Demon Spy revealed numerous private details regarding his relation with Cass in front of everyone, causing her great shame and banishment from her nation.

Though Cass had betrayed Kanart, he still loved her and wanted to marry her. So, he decided to elope with her, accepting all sacrifices needed, including his promising future prospects. On the other hand, although Cass loved the Demon Spy, she still desired Kanart too. Suffering from regret, she again fell in love with him when he proposed to her.

But the Goddess, who was looking at the situation, wasn't happy with their decision, as she had other plans for them. In her frustration, she appeared before them and tried to warn them about the path they had decided. Instead of listening to the warning of the Goddess, both Cass & Kanart turned to her and requested her to grant a wish for them, which was to allow them to leave her World and move to a New World. Irritated and angered by how the pair didn't listen to her warnings, the Goddess decided to give them 12 Trials to clear. If they managed to clear them, she would fulfill their wish.

The Goddess had thought that the trials would be impossible for them to overcome, as neither of them had any talent for combat, special characteristics, or unique skills. But after many ups and downs, both Cass & Kanart had managed to complete all the given trials.

As there was no other option, the Goddess, while agreeing to help them, still tried to persuade them to change their decision to leave her World, going as far as to say that she would erase everything that had happened so that they wouldn't have to suffer. She even gave them a glimpse of the hardships they would suffer in the New World. But Cass rejected her pleas, saying that it was her fault for the whole issue, and she had made her decision as a result of it.

The Goddess finally caved in and allowed them to pass her World and move to Earth. But as Earth didn't allow people to have the direct blessing of God, she gave them 'protection' that would protect them for two years, allowing them to adjust to the harshness of Earth while also giving them the knowledge to understand the new language. Finally, she told them to take on the surname of "Misumi" if they have any guilt about leaving her World. She also demanded that they give "one precious thing that they gain in the new world" to her as a price.

Life on Earth

After arriving on Earth, Cass and her husband had a hard time adjusting to the environment, but with the help of the Goddess protection, they managed to survive, and Cass gave birth to her three children; Yukiko, Makoto, and Mari, while Kanart became a Writer.

Knowing that one of her children would eventually be taken by the Goddess, Cass and Kanart decided to train them to be self-sufficient and protect themselves. Even though it was hard on Yukiko and Makoto especially, because of their weaker constitution, they continued with their hard training approach. Hayato and Cass even made the habit of taking yearly family photo, and maintaining a photo-album, which contained all the the pictures they had taken as a family.

Sometime later, Cass and her husband met the Healer, who came across a suffering young Makoto, and learned their secrets. Upon consulting with Cass & Kanart, the Healer helped heal Makoto's physical weakness while removing his affinity to Wind and Healing as a drawback. This gave Cass some relief as Makoto wouldn't suffer anymore.

Eventually the time came, and Makoto was taken to the Goddess World while leaving behind a letter. Knowing the whole situation, Cass and her husband created a lie that Makoto had gone overseas to study, not even informing both her daughters about the truth, though she still feels sadness and guilt on how Makoto got taken away. For some reason, Cass and her husband decided to reveal the truth regarding the situation to Makoto's Archery teacher Natsu Munakata.
